The Course

Purley Downs, a 6308-yard, par 70, SSS 70, downland layout, designed by JH Taylor in 1904, is superbly situated some 500 feet above sea level with magnificent views over the whole of London.

From the highest vantage points you can see Wembley Arch, Canary Wharf, Hampstead Heath and the City of London landmarks; some even claim to have seen Windsor Castle on a clear day. The 100-year-old clubhouse looks the other way (south). From the picture windows or the terrace, the eye is led to the 1st green (a par three), the club`s signature hole and up to a symphony of wooded slopes.

The fine links-type turf with chalk subsoil allows play 52 weeks of the year and the course layout, with its diverse downland terrain, provides an interesting challenge for both high-and low-handicap golfers.

Come and enjoy this unique golfing experience.

See Hole by Hole section for a pictorial layout of each hole and brief description.
